happy birthday to me

There's something about being seventeen that seems a bit older than being sixteen. Not only are you actually one year older, seventeen-year-olds are expected to be more responsible. They should be more mature. You're not the "sweet sixteen" anymore and hopefully you have things a little more figured out than you used to. Maybe when I tell people I'm seventeen they won't think I'm so young and innocent. Not that I want to be evil or anything -- I just don't want people to think I'm oblivious to the world and what's going on around me.

Last night I watched the "Sixteen Going On Seventeen" clip from the Sound of Music just because and today I sit in a pile of homework. I'm pretty sure that no matter how much I study there's always more studying to do. It's probably part of being seventeen (so much for being excited about that).

Here's a picture of me, surrounded by school (most of it is hiding behind me). Ignore the oatmeal can. It's part of the 3D Anatomy Model I'm supposed to make.

  1. Oh, dear. . .17-year-olds must be mature. Remind me to skip my birthday. ;) Although apparently, I've been told I am very lady-like by random people, which always make me bust out laughing in a very un-ladylike manner. :)

Happy Birthday! Too bad about the homework. But maybe doing extra homework will make you feel smarter as well as older? I don't know. I always feel particularly happy when I finally finish the science module I've put off for weeks.

  3. I've been 17 for a full seven months so I know how you feel. All the homework can get so overwhelming. (which I am currently am right now with studying for the ACT test.) But that's just the way life is. Hope you had a wonderful birthday! XO, Em.

  4. I gotta say, it's weird to have read this blog for so long and remember that you're not super old yet. ;) Don't worry so much about maturity - it's something you already have in spades. Happy birthday, Kendra!
